Salvaging a piece of library history

There has been a fair few office moves in my work over the past year and last summer I was lucky enough to inherit an old card catalogue. Getting it home on the tube required a large Ikea bag and a strong shoulder but I succeeded and spent a whole weekend sanding and varnishing. Then there was a trip to B&Q, which was fairly daunting, and a trip to Anthropologie which was lovely and twee, and it was finished! It’s so nice to see something which was looking a bit sad have a bit of care and attention. I do wonder what has happened to all the old catalogue drawers which were at one point the first port of call in a library…I hope they’re loved as much as mine.
